 2016 Best County Paving Award - Western Washington

  • Awarded by: Washington Asphalt Pavement Association (WAPA) and the Washington Association of County Engineers (WSACE)
  • Description: Snohomish County and Watson Asphalt Paving Co., Inc. were awarded the 2016 Best County Paving Award - Western Washington. The award was presented for the Snohomish County Rural Roads Preservation – Woods Creek Road project from South Lake Roesiger Road to Bollenbaugh Hill Road, north of Monroe.

  • Description: Sauk River Bridge #414 - An innovative construction technique was one of the features that made this project an award winner and saved County taxpayers $1 million in costs, shortened construction time by five months and minimized environmental impacts.

2008 APWA Project of the Year Award (National Level - Transportation Category)


  • Awarded by: American Public Works Association, Transportation Category of Projects Costing Less than $2 Million
  • Description: South Slough Bridge #91 - The innovative design reused the existing historic concrete arch foundation, eliminated the need for a complete bridge replacement, shortened the project by 4.5 years, and increased the deck size by 62 percent without adding weight, to accommodate two travel lanes and shoulders.

2007 APWA Project of the Year Award (National Level & State Level - Transportation Category)


  • Awarded by: American Public Works Association, Transportation Category of Projects Costing $2-$10 Million
  • Description: Puget Park Drive Extension - Pedestrian enhancements, aesthetic considerations, low impact development features and responsiveness to the community made this project an award-winner. It was featured on a tour of local LID projects through APWA's WA State Conference in the spring of 2007.
