Marijuana Retail Moratorium
On June 22, 2016, the Snohomish County Council adopted Emergency Ordinance No. 16-051 prohibiting new marijuana retail businesses from locating anywhere in unincorporated Snohomish County. These regulations will automatically expire in six months unless renewed or otherwise extended prior to December 22, 2016. An official hearing on this matter is scheduled to take place on August 10, 2016, at 10:30 am.
New Vesting and Expiration Regulations
On March 16, 2016, the County Council approved Amended Ordinance No. 16-004 to address the processing of permits. The main amendments are to Chapter 30.70 of the Snohomish County Code (SCC):
- Section 30.70.140 was amended to change the expiration of applications, approvals, and permits, and
- A new section, 30.70.300, was added to clarify the vesting of applications.
