196th St SE Improvements

August 28, 2015 Update
The paving work on 196th Street SE (from Yew Way to the top of the hill, approximately 500 feet) is delayed due to pending weather. Paving should be rescheduled for Monday or later into the week depending on weather conditions.  Expect delays of up to 30 minutes during the paving operation. The road surface can be driven on by the end of the paving work or sooner.
This project will improve the site distance at the intersection and on the hill.

Project Description

Snohomish County Public Works is planning to make improvements to 196th Street SE, from Yew Way to the top of the hill (approximately 500 feet east of Yew Way), to improve site distance and reduce the slope of the roadway to less than 15%. The landing at the intersection with Yew Way would be lengthened, widened, and realigned so that it connects at a 90 degree angle, or a “T”. Ditches will be installed as needed on both sides.
The road is in unincorporated Snohomish County east of Bothell and south of Snohomish.

The work is scheduled for 2015 with completion in September.

Construction Impacts
A single-lane closure is likely to be in effect during construction which is expected to last for  three - four weeks.
