At approximately 7 AM this morning, two contract Protective Security Officers at the Food and Drug Administration facility at the 22200 block of 23rd Dr SE in Bothell approached a suspicious person in the parking lot.  The person fled on foot, then returned a short time later and got into a vehicle parked at the facility. As Security Officers approached the vehicle, the suspect backed out and the vehicle struck one of the Security Officers.  The Security Officers fired at the vehicle.

Following up on information obtained from the vehicle, officers from Bothell PD went to a residence where they located a 15 year-old male with a gunshot wound in the foot and minor facial wounds.  The suspect was taken into custody by Bothell PD, who took him to a nearby hospital for evaluation.  The hospital released the suspect, and he is currently being detained for questioning.

The Snohomish County Multi Agency Response Team will be leading the investigation in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security.  The Security Officers are contracted by Federal Protective Services under DHS. The incident remains under investigation.

***UPDATE AT 4:30 pm ***

The 15 year-old male has been booked into the Denny Juvenile Justice Center in Everett for 2nd degree assault.  Also, it has been confirmed by Bothell PD that the male was involved a non-injury hit and run accident at the intersection of 228th St SE and Hwy 527 after he fled the FDA parking lot. That accident is being investigated by Bothell PD separate from the SMART investigation.
