The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART) is on-scene investigating an assault which left two people injured tonight in Monroe.  The incident began at approximately 7 PM when a 32 year-old male was spotted in the alley near the 100 block of W Hill St wielding a knife.  Officers learned that the man was alleged to have stabbed a 34 year-old female multiple times near the 100 block of N. Lewis St.  Officers attempted to negotiate with the male, following him down Blakely St.  Officers then approached the suspect, using a less-lethal impact weapon, then a TASER to subdue him.  The male sustained wounds during the process of being taken into custody.

Both the stabbing victim and the suspect were taken to Harborview.
