Breaking News Pager: 425-339-5700
At approximately 7:00 PM this evening, Riley Cleveland was abducted from a home in the Goldbar area by his biological mother, Noranda Y. Chenier. Five-year-old Riley was in the custody of CPS, being cared for by a caregiver at a placement home, when his mother came to visit. Chenier then picked-up her son and left with him, stating that she was taking him to Montana.
Noranda Chenier is restricted from having custody due to allegations of her drug use and her refusal to stay away from her boyfriend, who has been accused of assaulting Riley. There is an active protection order restricting the boyfriend from having contact with the mother and son.
Due to the child endangerment concerns regarding drug use and the past assault, an Amber Alert was initiated at 2215 hours, looking for the mother and son, and the vehicle Chenier was seen driving away from the scene.
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office was looking for a silver 1996 Ford Taurus four-door, with Washington State license plates #ALK8114.
The vehicle was stopped by the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 2245 hours. Five-year-old Riley D. Cleveland was taken into protective custody. He was not harmed.
The mother, Chenier, was arrested at the scene without incident. Another adult woman was in the vehicle and she is being questioned at this time.
Additional information will be provided as updates occur.
