Update in Collision Investigation on Pioneer Highway

Detectives with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Collision Investigation Unit have confirmed that the victim in yesterday’s fatal rollover south of Stanwood was a 16 year-old male from Camano Island. Alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor in the accident, which occurred near Pioneer Highway and Norman Road, but the incident is still under investigation. 

Confirmed identification of the victim, as well as cause and manner of death, will be released by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Collision Investigation on Pioneer Highway

STANWOOD, Wash. – On July 7, 2013 at about 12:02 PM SNOPAC received a report of a one car, off the road, rollover crash which had just occurred near Pioneer Highway and Norman Road, south of Stanwood.

Reportedly a Chevrolet had been travelling westbound on Pioneer Highway when it left the roadway and rolled over.  As of this release, one person has been pronounced deceased and five other victims were being transported via aid car and Airlift Northwest.

The roads near the intersection will be closed for an undetermined amount of time while investigators from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Collision Investigation Unit complete their investigation of the crash.

Additional releases will be forthcoming as appropriate and when information can be released.  The identity and cause of death will be released by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
