The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for a suspected car thief in the Granite Falls area, which has resulted in several schools in the area being locked down.

The incident began around 8:45 this morning when someone called 911 to report an erratic driver in the Snohomish area at 43rd St NE and Newberg Rd.  Deputies pursued the vehicle north until the driver abandoned the car on Hemming Way in Granite Falls near Mountain Way Elementary School.  It was confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of King County and had no license plates.

The Granite Falls School District confirmed that they locked down several other schools in the area due to their proximity to the search.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s with a beard and approximately 170 lbs.
