At approximately 6:45 PM the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Unit, Gold Bar Fire and Monroe Fire Departments rescued two adults (one male, one female) and three children (ages unknown) stranded on a gravel bar in the Skykomish River between Monroe and Sultan.  The male was treated by aid units at the scene and the female and children were returned to a nearby park.

The victims became stranded when, while floating down the river, one of the children fell off an inner tube and the male went into the water to help the child. The man injured his foot on the river bottom in the process.

A fire unit attempted to rescue the victims, but the SAR helicopter SnoHawk was called in to make the rescue.
