STANWOOD, Wash – The search continues for 29 year-old Duane “DJ” R. Sanders who assaulted a Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deputy earlier today while being arrested.  The deputy was in the area as a result of responding to an earlier call about a stolen F-250 Ford truck found by a resident deep in the nearby woods.  It was while waiting for the tow truck to arrive to take the stolen truck into evidence that Sanders and a 32 year-old Stanwood woman arrived at the scene. Sanders was believed to be in the area to take the woman to visit someone in the neighborhood.  It is not believed that Sanders or the female had anything to do with the stolen truck.

Sanders has several outstanding warrants, including a felony “escape from Department of Corrections” warrant. The female was taken into custody by responding units for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

The deputy, who was examined and released from the hospital with minor injuries, has been an employee with the Sheriff’s Office for more than 31 years.
