Two males have been
arrested in connection with an attempted Vehicle Theft and attempted Robbery 1st
degree at Snohomish Station in the City of Snohomish. On
May 27, 2014 at approximately 8:30 AM, two males, 19 and 20 years old, were in
the parking lot in front of the Fred Meyer store in Snohomish Station [2800
Bickford Avenue]. Witnesses’ description
was tall black males with one wearing a blue hoody and one wearing a gray and
black hoody. The 20 year old male
attempted to steal an unoccupied tan 1999 Mercedes 300 that was in the parking
lot in front of a bank ATM while the vehicle owner, a 61 year old Snohomish
resident, was using the ATM. Since the
vehicle owner was close by, he had left the car unlocked with the key in the
ignition. The 20 year old suspect was
unable to start the vehicle due to a lack of knowledge on how to operate a
diesel vehicle which allowed the vehicle owner enough time to confront the
suspect and remove him from the vehicle.
The 20 year old suspect then met up with his 19 year old partner and the
two walked toward another victim in the same parking lot. Again, the 20 year old male took the lead and
confronted a 59 year old female, from Lynnwood, who was sitting in her red 1999
Pontiac GrandAm. The 20 year old suspect
forcibly removed the female victim from her car in an attempt to steal her car. The victim began yelling and screaming at the
suspect which drew the attention of other witnesses in the parking lot. The commotion caused the 20 year old to let
go of the female victim and flee the area with his 19 year old partner.
Patrol units from
the Snohomish Police Department arrived in the area within 4 minutes of the
first call to 911, assisted by units from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s
Office, the Washington State Patrol, and the Monroe Police Department, and
arrested the 19 year old suspect near Bickford Avenue and 56th
Street. The 20 year old suspect was
arrested moments later in the showroom of Bickford Motors [3200 Bickford
Avenue] after an employee called 911 to report the male acting strange, pacing
back and forth, and talking on the phone with an unknown person. Neither suspect resisted arrest.
Both suspects were
interviewed by detectives from the Snohomish Police Department and information
was obtained indicating their involvement in a weekend crime spree. The detectives were able to obtain statements
and information from the suspects detailing the theft of a vehicle in Burien a
few days prior, involvement in an armed robbery in unincorporated Snohomish
County at the Walgreens on 164 ST SW and then two more armed robberies in the
City of Everett all on Sunday, May 25, 2014.
Detectives from the Snohomish Police Department shared information with
detectives from the Everett Police Department to assist them with their
The 20 year old
suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on Attempted Robbery 1st
