Shoplifting Suspect Crosses I5 on Foot, Causing Minor Collisions

LYNNWOOD, WASH. - A shoplifting suspect who fled the WalMart at 164th St SW after a scuffle with store security ran across I5 on foot, causing several non-serious collisions.  The suspect is in custody.

The incident began around 9:30 a.m. when the suspect was confronted by store security for allegedly shoplifting.  After a physical confrontation with the security officer, the suspect fled westbound on foot. He jumped from the on ramp onto I5 and ran across both the northbound and southbound lanes of I5.  An off-duty police officer in the area at the time took the suspect into custody.  A sheriff's deputy sustained minor injuries during the incident.
