About the Council
The Snohomish County Diversity Council recommends resources, education, training, outreach and support to achieve a diverse and inclusive environment within Snohomish County Government.

Snohomish County promotes culturally competent and inclusive behaviors and services at all times. Cultural competence among staff includes an awareness of their own cultural worldview, as well as an ability to understand, communicate, and effectively interact with people across cultures. We recognize that cultural competence is an ongoing learning process that evolves over time.

Why We Do It

Inclusive practices place value on the diversity of our staff, partners and community. Diversity is a part of every aspect of our daily work. The Snohomish County workforce must be willing and able to understand different cultures and world views and to provide services in a respectful manner that is responsive to cultural and linguistic needs. While no individual or organization can be an expert in all cultures, increasing cultural competence is an ongoing objective that is vital to effective public services in an increasingly diverse community.

Who We Serve
The Snohomish County Diversity Council respects and supports the ethnic identity and cultural diversity of all employees and citizens it serves. Snohomish County Government seeks to provide culturally relevant services and to prevent discrimination in every aspect of service delivery.
