The Snohomish County Fire Marshal employs fire investigators who provide fire investigation services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The investigators provide a professional and thorough investigation to the unincorporated areas of Snohomish County, as well as many cities with established inter-local agreements to provide investigation services. They work closely with the Snohomish County Sheriff, local police departments, the Federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Washington State Fire Marshal to solve criminal activity and prosecute arsonists.

Over 300 investigations are conducted yearly. Rewards may be awarded from tips provided to the Snohomish County Fire Marshal that may lead to the arrest and conviction of those who set fires.
