  • Description: From the basement of the workplace comes our October Rock Star Employee, Brandy Shoemaker whose bright lights as Mail Room Assistant shines all the way up to the council chambers on the 8th floor. Brandy is constantly saving county money by figuring out the price point for "doing it in house" versus outsourcing. She is described as having a great smile and a positive, can do attitude. One of the many things that makes Brandy stand out as a Rock Star Employee is that she goes out of her way to make everyone else's job easier. She foresees the needs of others. She makes it her business to know her customer's business needs so she can meet them, or find someone who can. Thank you Brandy!!

  • Description: John Klintworth, a Rock Star Facilities Maintenance Worker, regularly goes above and beyond his job duties, keeping the DJJC in safe and secure working order. No task is too large or too small – from floods to ants – John does all jobs with a big smile and a positive attitude. Even when detainees intentionally sabotage the plumbing he remains cheerful and professional!! He took on the battle of the birds in the dryer vents with a smile and removed nests with care. He conquered the invasion/massive infestation of the millipedes in the multi-purpose center and handled it all in good humor that rubbed off on others in a good way. John, comes in at all hours, all days of the calendar, all the time to keep the facility in top form. Thank you John!!!

  • Description: Sherry Cuddy in the Human Resources Department is a go getter and goes the extra mile for employees signing up for training – she takes registrations, finds training space and sets it up and works with trainers to help them prepare for the class. She is “constantly looking for ways to serve others and save money too.” In addition, Sherry is the Sr. Secretary to the Human Rights Commission of Snohomish County. She really goes above and beyond to help the commission members access information and resources, as well as providing scheduling and note taking services, even when it means splitting shifts and working odd hours. Sherry Cuddy always makes it work for her customers, no matter what. Thank you Sherry for being an HR Department Rock Star!

Her co-workers think you will wonder as they do: How does Karen do that without ever getting flustered? The answer is: Because she is a Rock Star!

  • Description: Lisa Wise is a Family Law Facilitator in the Court Services Division of the Clerk's Office. And what an apt name Ms. Wise has because of the thoughtful and highly skilled manner in which she performs her particular public service. She helps the public understand the process and paperwork which saves much court time. Her legal expertise is also highly valuable to family law attorneys. Lisa Wise is described as a quiet dynamo who also runs half marathons and is a Rick Springfield groupie. Congratulations Lisa for your wise ways and your great rock star work ethic.

He is widely regarded as both very knowledgeable with the added bonus of an infectious positive spirit about work. By all reports, Dale LOVES his job! Dale says“Why fish when you can work?” It’s clear that Dale’s positive spirit, great customer service skills and remarkable understanding of all things traffic make him a perfect Rock Star of the Month award recipient for October 2014. She also happens to raise a great deal of money through charitable auctions of her award-winning quilts. For feeding the hungry with quilt making and for handling applications for land segregations that rank you as legendary in your own time. Carol, you rock!

  • Description: These two remarkable women, Bonnie Hausauer and Brenda Granstrom, work as Fairgrounds Operations Assistant and Payroll and Accounts payable, respectively. In addition to everything they do to keep the Fairgrounds running efficiently, these two Rock Stars raise money all year for the local food bank. In addition to all the hours they both donate to make constant infusions to the food bank, these two Rock Stars perform their jobs with tireless energy and positive outlooks on life and work.   • Description: Alexandra MacKay is a rock star law enforcement technician who is the first person you see when you come to the Sheriff’s Office. Alex has a magical way of making people feel happy just because of the way they are treated. Whether Alex is working with an incoming report or conducting a background check, she still finds time to treat each and every visitor like they are the only person that matters that day.
    Sometimes her phone is ringing constantly off the hook, but she answers each and every call with a smile on her face that her caller can feel. When Alex received her award, the Council Chambers was filled to the rafters with her co-workers, uniformed law enforcement. At the head of her fan club: Sheriff Ty Trenary and his leadership team! Way to go, Alex!

  • Description: By day, Jette Markstrom works tirelessly as the Public Works Courier. She is known throughout the County for all the help she gives to so many people, connecting them with mail, packages, greetings and great good spirit. By night, Jette is the lead singer in the rock band, Jette and The Resonators. She doesn’t do this just for fun, she also gives back to the community through her musical efforts. By all accounts, Jette is a Snohomish County Rock Star because she works hard, helps others and makes everyone feel great just by showing up. Way to fly high, Jette!!

Both have helped many hundreds of people, families and communities as Snohomish County Council Members - each has served on the council for twelve years! If you ask either of them what they like best about being an elected member of the Snohomish County Council, they will undoubtedly say that making a positive difference in someone’s life is “a pretty good gig!” Thank you to both John and Dave for twelve productive and meaningful years of work on behalf of Snohomish County citizens.   • Description: Kathleen Herrmann is Snohomish County’s Marine Resource Steward Extraordinaire! She brings in grant funding, creates work teams to restore beaches and is a rock star professional in all things Puget Sound. Among her accomplishments: Coordinating local, state, and federal agencies to include nearshore beach area as a beneficial use disposal area for Snohomish River dredging. Kathleen has also led the effort to protect and restore Port Susan and designate it as a Marine Stewardship Area.

  • Description: Mary Wysocki is the August Rock Star of the Month. This is an award specifically for nominated county employees who exhibit exceptional job performance and outstanding public service to the citizens of Snohomish County.

    Mary works for Human Services in the Alcohol and Drugs Division. She works directly with schools, families, and communities to support prevention of substance abuse.

  • Description: Owen Carter is Snohomish County’s first-ever Rock Star of the Month. This is an award specifically for nominated county employees who exhibit exceptional job performance and outstanding public service to the citizens of Snohomish County.

    Owen was also recently named County Engineer of the Year by the Washington State Association of County Engineers. The award is given to an outstanding engineer each year and takes into consideration management skills, public relations, engineering expertise, community activities, association activity, and other outreach.

    Owen is the deputy director of Snohomish County’s Public Works Department, overseeing road maintenance, transportation, environmental services, and engineering services.
