Fireworks Safety

As the Fourth of July is quickly approaching, we want to make sure our county’s residents are safe. Last year, we responded to over 540 fireworks complaints and 75 locations were responsible for over 20% of those calls. We hope by creating more community awareness and sharing safety tips we can help reduce that number.  Remember to only discharge fireworks in unincorporated Snohomish County on July 4 from 9 AM to 11:59 PM. It is illegal to discharge fireworks before or after the Fourth of July. Fireworks are always illegal in unincorporated Snohomish County before and after the Fourth of July.

Keep Your Family Safe

  • Check out the "4th of July Fireworks Discharge Map" to see if fireworks are legal in your area
  • Call 425-407-3999 (not 911) to report the illegal discharge of fireworks
  • Never allow children to ignite fireworks
  • Always supervise children when discharging fireworks - even sparklers can be dangerous
  • Only light one firework at a time
  • Never try to re-light or pick up a “dud” firework
  • Keep the ground wet and a water source close by
  • Wear protective clothing and always stand back
  • Alcohol and/or marijuana do not mix with fireworks – assign a sober designated “shooter”

Keep Your Pets Safe

  • Do not take your pet with you to a firework show
  • Remember to close all windows and make your pet feel safe and comfortable if they are home alone
  • Update the information on your pet’s ID tag

Leave the Fireworks to the Professionals, Attend a Public Firework Show

  • Arlington – Fireworks at the Boys and Girls Club at 9 PM
  • Edmonds – Fireworks at Civic Stadium at 10 PM
  • Everett – Fireworks at Legion Memorial Park at dusk

Remember, it is always ILLEGAL to:

  • Discharge fireworks in Edmonds, Everett, Gold Bar, Lynnwood, Marysville, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace, Mukilteo, and Woodway.
  • Discharge fireworks in any Washington State Park or Snohomish County Park
  • Discharge fireworks on federal land, including those managed by the Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Forest Service.
  • Discharge fireworks on public property, public streets, sidewalks, parking lots, or school property.
  • Discharge fireworks on private property without permission, and to discharge fireworks from private property onto public property
  • Possess or discharge illegal fireworks. Firecrackers, rockets, rockets, M-80s, dynamite, and all homemade fireworks are all illegal.

Call 425-407-3999 to report the illegal discharge of fireworks (please do not call 911 unless there is an immediate threat to life or property).
