Two undersized culverts were replaced on the north end of 51st Avenue SE - one during 2011, and one during 2013. The culverts were identified for replacement through the Surface Water Management Division's drainage investigation program. They are located in the Little Bear Creek Watershed just south of 180th Street SE. Each year the county prioritizes failing and undersized culverts for replacement to prevent flooding and erosion of roadways, and to meet Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife requirements for fish passage. The projects were managed by Snohomish County and paid for with Brightwater Facility mitigation funds from King County.
