Howard Creek Bridge 496 is located at milepost 9.0 on Index-Galena Road where it crosses Howard Creek south of the North Fork Skykomish River in the Mount Baker – Snoqualmie National Forest.
The county received federal funding from the Washington State Department of Transportation's Bridge Replacement Advisory Committee (BRAC).
The new structure is an 80-foot long single-span bridge with steel girders and a concrete deck. It is now 28-feet wide to accommodate two lanes of traffic.
Construction was completed in November 2017.
