Snohomish County Parks & Recreation is currently planning for improvements to Esperance Park including the recently acquired adjacent 3.4 acre parcel, formerly owned by the Edmonds School District. In order to provide additional recreation opportunities and address possible park expansion, a Master Plan is being developed for the park. Initial community input has been gathered through multiple meetings with the Friends of Esperance Park and public meetings. Ideas for park improvements generated by community input and preliminary design work include:
New accessible walking path network
New off-leash dog area
Playground replacement & relocation
New multipurpose sport court & community gathering space
New community garden / pea patch
Little league field enhancements
Stormwater treatment/habitat area
Woodland & trail enhancements
Upon adoption of the Master Plan, Parks will begin design development, permitting and implementation of planned improvements. Improvements will likely be completed in phases based on funding availability and additional community input.
All acquisitions, plans and site developments are subject to funding availability and subject to Snohomish County Executive and County Council approval.
Partial acquisition funding received through county Conservation Futures Program
Additional acquisition grant funding from State Recreation and Conservation Office aided in the purchase of the adjacent school property
Additional community input and development of a preferred site plan anticipated 2016
