PROJECT OVERVIEW

Completed in 2020

Snohomish County Parks & Recreation completed improvements to Esperance Park including the addition of the 3.4-acre parcel, formerly owned by the Edmonds School District which has provided additional recreation opportunities including an off-leash dog area, walking paths, playground replacement, sport court, parking lot, field enhancements, stormwater treatment/habitat area and woodland trail enhancements.

Community input was gathered through multiple meetings with the Friends of Esperance Park and public meetings. Park improvements generated by community input and preliminary design work included:

  • New accessible walking path network
  • New off-leash dog area
  • Parking lot
  • Playground replacement & relocation
  • New multipurpose sport court & community gathering space
  • Little league field enhancements
  • Stormwater treatment/habitat area
  • Forest playground
  • Woodland & trail enhancements

A consultant was selected and completed design development, permitting, and implementation of planned improvements. A preferred conceptual plan was presented to the County Council members at the operations committee meeting on 8/9/2016. Construction began in August 2019.
