Right of way acquisition has been completed for this project. Snohomish County has obtained 2021 construction funding from the County Road Administration Board (CRAB), allowing construction to begin within the next few years. Prior to construction, utility companies will relocate their facilities, to eliminate conflict with the proposed improvements. Once the utility relocation work is scheduled, the timeline will be announced.
The design and right-of-way phases of this project are expected to be completed by late 2016. Snohomish County is currently in the process of acquiring right-of-way for the project and actively seeking funds for construction. The construction date for this project is dependent on obtaining construction funding.
Snohomish County Public Works is proposing improvements to 84th Street NE and 115th Avenue NE. Improvements include widening 84th Street NE at this intersection to provide an eastbound and westbound left-turn pocket. The addition of turn pockets will provide an additional lane for vehicles waiting to turn onto 115th Avenue SE while allowing through traffic to continue. The road shoulders will also be widened to 8 feet at the intersection.
An environmental review of the intersection improvements has been completed in compliance with the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA). SEPA requires that all state and local agencies identify and evaluate the environmental impacts of their land use decision. An Environmental Checklist has been prepared and a Determination of Non-Significance (DNS) has been issued for this project. This project does not have a probable significant adverse impact on the environment. These documents are available by viewing the links below.
The 21-day SEPA comment and appeal period ended on December 4, 2014.
