Hand Rd Culvert Replacement

Snohomish County Public Works replaced twin culverts under the road near 12325 Hand Rd east of Monroe during August 2019. The previous 24-inch diameter twin culverts were undersized which created a partial barrier for fish. The twin culverts were replaced with a single 14-foot wide concrete box culvert to allow for improved fish passage.

Work took place August 14-27, 2019.

Traffic Impact


To install the new culvert the road was closed near 12325 Hand Rd from August 14-27, 2019. The detour route was signed and utilize Old Pipeline Rd, Woods Lake Rd and Florence Acres Rd. Local access was provided to residents living between Old Pipeline Rd and Florence Acres Rd during the closure.

Funding


The estimated cost for this culvert replacement is $250,000 and was paid for through Surface Water Utility funds.
