Snohomish County Public Works replaced a culvert under the road at 5617 Menzel Lake Rd and re-opened the construction area to traffic on August 29, 2019. Some construction work still remains that will not impact traffic. The new 15-foot wide concrete box culvert is on a fish-bearing stream and will improve fish passage.
Construction began on July 15 with the road closure taking place on July 22. The road was re-opened to traffic on August 29, 2019.
To install the new culvert, the road was closed south of Pilchuck Pl starting on July 22 and lasted until August 29. The detour route was signed and utilized N Carpenter Rd, Robe Menzel Rd, S Granite Ave, and E Pioneer St. Local Access remained available to the north and south of the closure area to residents and businesses on Menzel Lake Rd.
The estimated cost for this culvert replacement is $400,000 and will be funded through the Road Fund.
