Description - Completed
Snohomish County Public Works overlaid 1.23 miles on Airport Road and 128th St SW from southeast of SR 99 to west of the I-5 interchange
from July - October 2020. The project will preserve the pavement and make for a smoother driving surface for motorists. The project used polymer modified asphalt designed to extend the life of the driving surface by as much as five years over regular asphalt. Polymer-modified asphalt provides better resistance to rutting and cracking.
ADA curb ramps on Airport Road and 19th Pl W were replaced. Detection loops at Airport Road and Admiralty Way also were replaced with more modern designs so that cars can better trigger traffic signals.
Traffic Impact
- Construction took place at night and one lane remained open in each direction, minimizing impact to drivers. All lanes of the road were operational during the day, outside of the contractor's working hours.
- Access to businesses and sidewalks were maintained.
