Washington State Coalition of African Community Leaders

The Washington State Coalition of African Community Leaders held a civics education class in early 2023 on the Snohomish County campus. The purpose of this event was to educate underserved African Diaspora communities in coming together and better understanding how local and county government work. The Office of Social Justice provided a sponsorship and county officials attended to provide education on access government services. Cultural discussions and food were part of this event.

Our Turnaround Youth program, based in Everett, serves low-income, mainly Hispanic youth ages 8 to 20 who are at risk of gang involvement and incarceration. We provide wrap-around services for these youth, including weekly support groups, mentoring, art classes, nature outings, and help with schoolwork, job applications, driver’s licenses, and other life tasks.
