The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office (ME) has confirmed that the remains discovered off of the Boulder Creek Trail last Saturday belong to a Seattle man reported missing in 2009. Greg Keller, who was 49 years-old at the time of his disappearance, had told friends that he planned to go camping somewhere between Darrington and Granite Falls off the Mountain Loop Highway on October 27, 2009 and return home a week later. When he failed to return home, his friends notified authorities. The Snohomish County Search and Rescue Unit conducted an extensive two-day search of the area in November 2009, but were unable to locate Keller.
Last Saturday, June 8, hikers reported finding human skeletal remains near the Boulder Creek Trail, which were identified today by the ME as belonging to Keller.
The cause and manner of Keller’s death are yet to be determined by the ME.
