SR 530 Slide Update

OSO, Wash. – At least three people are confirmed dead and rescue efforts are continuing through the night at area affected by the SR 530 slide. Air operations were suspended when darkness fell, but will continue at first light. The number of homes affected can still only be confirmed at six, but that number is expected to rise. It was confirmed that rescuers are using FLIR thermal imaging cameras to aid rescue efforts.
A Red Cross shelter for those affected by the slide has been established at the Post Middle School in Arlington (1220 5th St.) and Darrington Community Center (570 Sauk Ave). People seeking information about those they believe affected by the slide are asked to use the Red Cross website safeandwell.org.
State Route 530 remains closed from the Oso Fire Department (21824 Washington 530) on the west side of the slide and from Little French Creek Rd (milepost 42) the on the east side of the slide.
