EVERETT, Wash. – The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious woman walking around a parking lot with a semi-automatic handgun, asking strangers to help her unjam the firearm. Deputies arrived at the Home Depot parking lot, located in the 11900 block of Highway 99, in unincorporated Snohomish County, Everett, Washington, within one minute of the call to 911. A deputy found the woman parked in the “loading zone” directly in front of the store. The woman was alone in the car. When the woman saw the deputy, she immediately put the firearm next to her head and pulled the trigger. One round was fired and it struck the woman in the side of her head. No deputies fired their weapons and no other known rounds were fired by the woman. It is unknown at this time if someone helped her with the firearm or if she had fixed it herself prior to the deputy’s arrival, at 1101 hours. The woman is 24 years-old and is from the City of Everett. She was transported to Harborview Medical Center. Her current condition is unknown.
More details will be released when they are available.
