Sheriff’s Deputy Assaulted During Arrest, Suspect At Large

STANWOOD, Wash – A Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deputy was assaulted as he attempted to arrest a suspect this morning around 9 AM for a warrant at the 4400 block of 192nd Ave NW.  The suspect, 29 year-old Duane “DJ” Sanders from Stanwood, struck the deputy in the face, ear and hand as he was being handcuffed, then fled the scene.  The deputy was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.  A search for Sanders continues in the area. 

Sanders was last seen wearing a dark fleece jacket and jeans.  He is 5’4” approx. 130lbs. with facial hair and missing his right eye. He has a handcuff left wrist.  Anyone who sees Sanders is asked to call 911 immediately.
