Sheriff’s Office Dive Team Responds to Rafting Drowning

Gold Bar, Wash. –At about 3:45 pm today, The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a rafter being given CPR after going into the Skykomish River near Boulder Drop, east of Gold Bar. A 35 year old Seattle man had been with a group rafting the river with a commercial rafting company based out of Peshastin. The man was reportedly wearing appropriate gear to include a personal flotation vest and helmet.
The Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit will be conducting an investigation on the circumstances surrounding the incident and the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will provide all information related to the victim’s identification and cause of death.
