Following several complaints and concerns by the
community, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office is reminding the public that
the area affected by the 530 Slide is private property and walking onto the
site is considered trespassing. In addition, the unauthorized removal of
items from the area is considered theft.
Recovery and clean-up efforts are still
underway, so personnel operating equipment or providing security have
permission from property owners to be in the area. Drivers on SR 530 in
the slide area are asked to not stop on the highway nor leave the
roadway. Anyone who witnesses illegal activity in the slide area,
including trespassing or theft, should call 911 immediately.
Questions about the SR 530 reconstruction
project can be directed to: Travis Phelps, WSDOT Communications, Phone: (206) 440-4698, Email: phelpst@wsdot.wa.gov. Questions about the 530 Slide debris removal
efforts can be directed to: Rebecca Hover, Director of Communications, Snohomish County Executive’s Office, Phone: 425-388-3883, Rebecca.Hover@snoco.org.
