Join the Sheriff’s Office for National Night Out

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office invites you to join us for National Night Out Tuesday, August 5, at one of six locations where some of our special operations and patrol personnel and equipment will be on hand.


National Night Out is held to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.


“Connecting with neighbors is one of the community’s most powerful crime-fighting tools,” said Sheriff Ty Trenary.  “Countless surveys show that when homeowners know their neighbors, they say they are more likely to report something suspicious and are confident their neighbors will do the same. Connected communities are safer communities.”


Here’s a list of community National Night Out events where the Sheriff’s Office will have a presence:


Willis Tucker Community Park

5 - 8 p.m.

Watch a demonstration by the Search and Rescue Helicopter Rescue Team, see emergency vehicles, visit booths with safety tips and local law enforcement personnel; enjoy kids’ games and activities, live music and free hot dogs, sno-cones and corn on the cob.


Darrington

5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Old School Park


Gold Bar

7 - 9 p.m.

Family Grocer, 1111 Croft Ave.

A parade will head out from the Family Grocer at 7 p.m. and head to the field at Gold Bar Elementary School for a community celebration with food and drinks.


Granite Falls

4 - 8 p.m.

The field next to the IGA on Granite Avenue

Enjoy free hot dogs and soda and say hi to Smokey the Bear, who will be at the celebration along with the Granite Falls Police and Fire Departments.


Snohomish

6 - 9 p.m.

200 block of Avenue A, 300 block of Avenue A and in Morgantown at Mill Avenue and 8th Street

Join the Snohomish Fire Department and deputies from the Snohomish Police Department at one of three block parties.


Stanwood

6 – 9 p.m.

Former Thrifty Foods parking lot, 27200 90th Ave. NW, Stanwood, WA

Our Search and Rescue helicopter, SnoHAWK 10 will fly in, joining deputies from the Stanwood Police Department. There will also be live music, free food and face painting.


The National Night Out events at Willis Tucker Park and in Stanwood, Granite Falls and Gold Bar will be accepting unwanted and expired medications as part of the Drug Take Back Program. Click here for more information.


Neighborhood groups who would like to register their National Night Out event with the Sheriff’s Office and request a visit from a deputy can submit their information and request online.  Registered neighborhood events are listed online.
