GRANITE FALLS, Wash. – Major Crimes Unit detectives have established probable cause to arrest 49 year-old George Hatt, Jr. for the murder of Andrew Spencer.  In the course of the investigation, detectives learned from witnesses that Spencer and Hatt had an altercation earlier in November over Spencer allegedly burglarizing Hatt’s residence.  Hatt is alleged to have shot Spencer, then burned and buried his body near the 21100 block of 133rd St NE.  Hatt is believed to have fled the area with his girlfriend about a week ago to California, where he was already wanted for parole violation.  Hatt is considered armed and dangerous and anyone with information of his whereabouts should call 911 immediately.

Human remains were found yesterday at the location where the homicide is believed to have occurred and have been taken into custody by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner for positive identification.

Spencer, a 31 year-old Granite Falls man, was last seen on November 3 and was reported missing to police.
