Granite Falls, Wash. – The Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Unit and volunteers from Snohomish County Volunteer Search and Rescue rescued an injured woman and her dog from the Gothic Basin area near Foggy Lake.  The 34 year-old woman had spent Sunday night in the area after her dog was injured.  Due to the rugged terrain, heat and approaching nightfall, the woman, her dog and all of the rescuers who had reached her via ground were flown from the area by SnoHAWK10.  She and the dog sustained minor injuries. The operation lasted from around 8 p.m. on Sunday night (when the first call was made to 911) until around 8:30 p.m. Monday night.  Assistance was provided by the Washington State Animal Response Team, a non-profit all-volunteer organization that responds to emergency situations involving animals.
