MEDIA ADVISORY: Gov. Inslee to Tour Snohomish County Diversion Center Tomorrow
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 17, 2018
EVERETT, Wash. – Washington Governor Jay Inslee will meet with Sheriff Ty Trenary and Snohomish County Executive Somers to discuss the county’s initiative to open a Diversion Center from 11:30 – noon tomorrow at 1918 Wall Street. The Sheriff’s Office of Neighborhoods (a team of deputies and law enforcement embedded social workers) will also be on hand to answer questions about the needs of Snohomish County’s vulnerable homeless population, many of whom struggle with untreated addiction and mental illness. The Diversion Center, slated to open in March 2018, will provide short-term housing residential program designed to divert non-violent, low level offenders who are homeless and addicted away from jail and into recovery/treatment. Please see the media advisory from the Governor’s Office for additional details about tomorrow’s event.
Questions regarding the Diversion Center or logistics for tomorrow’s visit may be directed to Shari Ireton, Director of Communications, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, firstname.lastname@example.org, 425-388-3377, Media line: 425-249-6263.
