Detectives Seek Public’s Help to Locate Person of Interest in 1990’s Homicide FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 30, 2019 CONTACT: Shari Ireton, Director of Communications, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, shari.ireton@snoco.org, 425-388-3377, Media line: 425-249-6263 BOTHELL, Wash. – Last Wednesday, May 22, detectives responded to a residence in the 19900 block of 8th Ave SE in Bothell and recovered human skeletal remains buried in the backyard. The remains are believed to be Michael Powell of Mill Creek, who has not been in contact with family since the early 1990’s, and was in his early 30’s at the time of his death. Based on evidence gathered during the investigation, detectives believe the decedent was a victim of homicide and are seeking the public’s help to locate a person of interest in Powell’s death, 43 year-old Richard “Rick” Nelson. Nelson has ties to the Pierce County area and was last known to live in Bonney Lake. Nelson is 5’9” tall, weighs 185 pounds with brown eyes and blond hair or shaved head.
