Major Crimes Unit Detectives Investigate Marysville Homicide

MARYSVILLE, Wash. – Friday night, Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit detectives arrested a 63 year-old Marysville woman for second-degree murder DV. At 6 p.m., aid units responded to reports of an adult male injured in a driveway in the 1500 block of 140th St NE. Upon arrival, aid crews observed obvious injuries to the victim’s head and body consistent with being struck by a vehicle. Patrol deputies immediately responded to the scene and aid crews administered life saving efforts. The victim, a 64 year-old Marysville man, died at the scene.
During the investigation, detectives learned there was a verbal altercation occurring between the victim and the suspect outside the residence. A witness observed the suspect flee the scene in her vehicle and observed the victim lying in the driveway unresponsive. Detectives believe the suspect drove over the victim with her vehicle.
Deputies located the 63 year-old suspect at a residence in the 1400 block of 140th St NE and located her vehicle in a wooded brush area nearby. Detectives observed damage to the front end of the vehicle consistent with striking a human. In an interview with detectives, the suspect acknowledged “running over something” but denied knowing it was the victim.
The 63 year-old Marysville woman was arrested and booked into Snohomish County Jail for second-degree murder DV. Major Crimes Unit detectives and Collision Investigation Unit detectives remained at the scene overnight. This is an active investigation.
Positive identification of the decedent, as well as cause and manner of death will be determined by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner.
