Deputies Respond to Fatal Plane Crash in Arlington

ARLINGTON, Wash. – Around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal plane crash near N. Cedarvale Loop Road. A friend of the pilot reported he was overdue and used a tracking device to locate the plane’s approximate location. Patrol deputies and search and rescue teams searched the area by ground before launching the Sheriff’s Office helicopter, SnoHawk1, to attempt to locate the plane. 

Just after 10 p.m., SnoHawk1 located the crash site. The pilot, a 73-year-old Bothell man, was deceased at the scene.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.

Positive identification of the decedent, as well as cause and manner of death, will come from the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
