LAKE STEVENS, Wash. – Around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, the Sheriff’s Office Collision Investigation Unit (CIU) responded to a fatal collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist near the 14700 block of 84th St NE. When deputies arrived on scene, they found the victim, a 22-year-old male, deceased in the roadway.
The driver of the vehicle, a 34-year-old woman, remained at the scene and was cooperative with detectives.
CIU detectives are actively investigating the cause of the collision, but believe the victim was wearing dark clothing and riding his bicycle in the lane of travel when he was struck by the vehicle. The road was closed for several hours Sunday while detectives investigated the crash.
Positive identification of the decedent, as well as cause and manner of death will be determined by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner.
