STANWOOD, Wash. – Yesterday, the Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit (SIU) detectives arrested a 26-year-old Stanwood man for three counts of third-degree child rape.

In 2017 and 2018, the suspect was working as a youth pastor at a church in Arlington where the 15-year-old victim was attending. The suspect, then-22-years-old, began grooming the victim while driving her home after church and communicating with the victim through social media.

On multiple occasions, the suspect convinced the 15-year-old victim to sneak out of her residence, and the suspect picked her up and drove the victim to his residence in Stanwood.

Through the investigation, SIU detectives developed probable cause to arrest the 26-year-old suspect for three counts of third-degree child rape.

Detectives believe there may be additional victims. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 425-388-3845.

This remains an active investigation.
