Sheriff’s Office Investigates Tuesday Night Shooting in Gold Bar

GOLD BAR, Wash. – Around 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies responded to the 14500 block of Wallace Lake Road for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located the victim, a 60-year-old man, lying on the side of the road with two gunshot wounds. The victim was transported by aid to Providence Reginal Medical Center. His injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening. 

During the investigation, deputies learned a 65-year-old man was walking his dog when he observed the victim stealing scrap metal from his property. He confronted the man and a physical altercation occurred. The 65-year-old property owner fired two rounds at the man, striking him in the chest and leg. 

The property owner was detained by deputies. He was interviewed and was released. 

The two men are not known to each other. This remains an active investigation.
