Looking for ways to keep your pet safe this Halloween?
Consider these tips:
* Bring your pet indoors and away from trick-or-treaters. Large numbers of strangers in costumes knocking on your door can cause anxiety in your pets.
* Identify your pet – be sure your pet is licensed and microchipped in case they bolt out the door. A reflective collar will help you see your pet at night.
*Lock candy away, be sure the kids have not stashed candy in their rooms, a dog’s keen sense of smell can easily find the hidden treasures. Contact your veterinarian right away if your pet ingests chocolate or sugar-free candy.
* Keep glow sticks out of reach, of your pets, cats in particular find them irresistible to play with and puncture.
* If your pet enjoys wearing a costume be sure it fits well and doesn’t pose a choking hazard. Be sure your pet can see and their movement is unrestricted. Never force your pet into a costume and never leave a pet wearing a costumer unattended.
