Sunnyside Boulevard Update – April 21, 2017

On April 20, 2017, the Marysville/Lake Stevens area got an estimated two inches of rain during an evening storm. Heavy rain carried debris down the canyon east of Sunnyside Boulevard, just south of 10th Place NE. The culvert under the road became blocked by the debris, causing water to flow over the road and onto private property.

Snohomish County became aware of the situation around 8:35 p.m. Crews responded and closed the road to keep the public safe and until further assessment could be made.

This morning, crews worked to unclog the culvert and begin cleaning up the road. Our goal is to re-open the road at some point Friday night, if all goes well and no additional problems are identified. Residents can check the Snohomish County Road Closure webpage for updates.
