Snohomish County’s Airport Road Recycling & Transfer Station Rescheduled for Closure May 1-21, 2017

Closure was previously cancelled due to adverse weather conditions disrupting delivery of containers from landfill in Eastern Washington

EVERETT, Wash., April 17, 2017 – The postponed closure of the Airport Road Recycling and Transfer Station (ARTS) is scheduled for May 1 through May 21, 2017. During the three week closure, repairs will be made to the compactors and tipping floor. The recycling area will remain open during regular hours throughout the closure, however, yard waste will not be accepted. ARTS is scheduled to reopen on Monday, May 22 at 7 a.m.

During the ARTS closure, the Cathcart Way Temporary Transfer Station (8915 Cathcart Way, Snohomish, WA 98296) will be open for commercial haulers and mechanical unload and hydraulic dump style vehicles only. Recycling will not be available at the Cathcart site. Customers who unload their garbage and/or recycling by hand will need to use the Southwest Recycling and Transfer Station (SWRTS) in Mountlake Terrace or the North County Recycling and Transfer Station (NCRTS) in Arlington.

The closure was originally scheduled to occur in January and was postponed to February due to weather in Eastern Washington causing disruptions in receiving containers to remove waste generated at the facility. The February closure was later cancelled and has now been rescheduled.

The repairs are funded by transfer station customer fees. For information on alternate locations, fees, ARTS normal operating hours or about the closure, visit www.snoco.org/solidwaste or call 425-388-3425.
