Safe Snow Driving Tips
Do not drive through drifted snow or snow banks.
Don’t use cruise control when driving on snow or ice.
Leave extra distance between you and other vehicles on the road.
Stuck in Snowdrift or Ice?
Your tires need traction. Sprinkle sand or salt underneath your tires to help them stick. The rubber underside of your floor mats can also help your tires gain traction.
Use a low gear and slowly accelerate to allow tires to gain traction.
If you are stuck in your car for an extended period of time, make sure the exhaust pipe is clear so carbon monoxide doesn’t slip into your vehicle.
Clean the snow off the grille to avoid overheating.
Stay inside your vehicle to keep warm while help is on its way.
