[ARCHIVED] Snohomish County Winter Weather Update for February 10

NWS021019

What’s projected for Monday and Tuesday: A significant storm with projected accumulations of 6-8" in Snohomish County.

Day 3 Sunday, Feb. 10 Update

What’s happening Sunday night through Monday morning: As you can see, the National Weather Service's forecast of  another snow event was correct, so expect around 2-4" of snow through Monday morning. The  good news is the winds are forecast to be low (~10 mph) and PUD reported that much of the has fallen off or melted from snow-loaded tree branches. This lessens the likelihood of power outages for the next 24 hours.

What’s projected for Monday and Tuesday: A significant storm with projected accumulations of 6-8" in Snohomish County.   See DEM's message below.

People in @SnoCounty have done great adapting travel plans to reflect #WASnow warnings. Road conditions Monday likely to start tough and may turn terrible, just in time for p.m. commute. Be prepared! #WAwx

This @NWSSeattle graphic from Sunday a.m. captures what @SnoCounty may face as the week starts. We’re told the red zone may see up to 3-6 inches new #WASnow tonight and up to 6-8 inches more starting Monday afternoon. Yellow is possible sleet/freezing rain. Stay tuned. #WAWx

Public Safety Messages

Please do not to sled on unincorporated roads or roads that lead into those streets so road crews can sand.

There are two back-to-back storms forecast for tonight and again on Monday night. Check the roads before tomorrow’s commute – both in the morning AND the afternoon.  Discuss your travel plans with others, even if the trip is just a few miles, and it’s always a good idea to have a backup plan.

Weather conditions have delayed regular garbage pick-up. Until your provider is able to resume operations, store excess garbage securely in garbage bags and cans with lids to keep out of the reach of animals. Compact trash as much as possible so it will fit in the garbage cans. Do not burn garbage.
