Snohomish County Tomorrow Announces Assembly featuring Housing Affordability Regional Taskforce
EVERETT, Wash., September 9, 2019 - Snohomish County Tomorrow (SCT) announces a presentation from the Snohomish County Housing Affordability Regional (HART) Task Force to the SCT Assembly. The presentation, as well as discussion of HART’s finding, will start at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2019. The public is invited to join the conversation by coming to the Everett Station Weyerhaeuser Room (3201 Smith Ave., 4th floor, Everett). This program is being co-sponsored by Snohomish County Tomorrow (SCT) and Snohomish County Cities (SCC).
With one of the hottest housing markets in the country, the Puget Sound region is growing increasingly unaffordable for some residents, and homeownership is becoming less attainable for the middle class. A coordinated response is needed among cities and the county, together with other governments, private sector firms and non-profit agencies. The Housing Affordability Regional Taskforce (HART) is identifying solutions and will give preliminary findings to the SCT Assembly.
County Executive Dave Somers, Lynnwood Mayor Nicola Smith and members of the HART Working Groups will lead off the discussion. Executive Somers, in setting up this taskforce said, “A coordinated response to our housing challenges is our best step forward. We need to determine what we are each willing and able to do and then act accordingly.”
