Snohomish County Public Works Hosting Open House for Proposed 43rd Ave SE/Sunset Rd Project

Proposed project will widen road, create additional north/south thoroughfare

EVERETT, Wash., Nov. 22, 2019 – To address continuing growth and traffic congestion in the area between the cities of Mill Creek and Bothell, Snohomish County Public Works is proposing a road improvement project on 43rd Ave SE/Sunset Dr to provide more north-south roadway capacity. An open house is scheduled to take place between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Willis Tucker Community Park Activity Center, to discuss the status of the proposed project.

The proposed project design includes widening and connecting road sections on 43rd Ave SE/Sunset Rd between 180th St SE and Maltby Road (SR 524). Proposed features include roundabouts at the intersections at 43rd Ave SE and 196th St SE and at 43rd Ave SE and Maltby Rd (SR 524), signal improvements at 180th St SE and Sunset Rd, and added stormwater facilities. Construction for the proposed project is scheduled to begin in 2022.
