Snohomish County Public Works will Begin Paving Airport Rd/128th St on July 13

Work will only occur at night and one lane will be open in each direction at all times

EVERETT, Wash., July 10, 2020 – Snohomish County Public Works and Granite Construction will begin paving 1.2 miles of Airport Rd/128th St on the evening of Monday, July 13. The project extends just east of the Home Depot on Airport Rd to the southbound I-5 on-ramp.

Construction will occur from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. from Sunday night to Friday morning. During construction there will be one lane open in each direction to traffic at all times and pedestrian access will be maintained. Access to businesses will also be available during construction. All lanes will be operational during the day, outside of the contractor’s working hours. Residents may hear construction noise at night. Work is expected to wrap up in October 2020.

The project will preserve the pavement and make for a smoother driving surface for motorists. Crews will use a polymer modified asphalt designed to extend the life of the driving surface by up to five years more than traditional asphalt. This product also provides better resistance to rutting and cracking.

Curb ramps at 19th Pl W and Airport Rd will be updated to be in compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Advanced traffic detection devices along Airport Rd and 128th St SW will also be replaced so that cars can better trigger traffic signals.

In compliance with the Governor’s order and accepted safety plans, all construction crews will be practicing COVID-19 prevention protocols. Please maintain a 6-foot social distance from workers.

This project is fully funded by a $3 million grant from the National Highway System Asset Management program.
