Snohomish County is Scheduled to Begin Construction on 35th Ave SE – Phase II
during April
Project will add center turn lanes, sidewalks and bike lanes from SR 524 to 180th St SE
EVERETT, Wash., April 8, 2021 – The 35th Ave SE corridor is an important north-south route for Snohomish County residents in a rapidly developing area of the county between Bothell and Mill Creek. Snohomish County is scheduled to begin the second phase of the improvements to the 35th Ave SE corridor between SR 524 and 180th St SE beginning in April.
The project includes bike lanes, center turn lanes, planter strips, sidewalks, and stormwater detention and treatment facilities. It will improve traffic flow and help ease congestion during busy morning and afternoon commutes. The addition of continuous center turn lanes will reduce delays caused by turning vehicles while the non-motorized facilities will add to the safe active transportation alternatives. The first phase of these improvements was completed in June 2019 between 180th St SE and Seattle Hill Rd.
35th Ave SE – Phase II Improvements
When: April 2021 through fall 2022
Where: 35th Ave SE between SR 524 and 180th St SE
What: Snohomish County Public Works will begin construction on Phase II of the 35th Ave SE improvement project. The work will include adding center turn lanes, sidewalks, and bike lanes.
Utility companies have been working to relocate utilities in advance of the county’s project and will continue through the start of the project.
Single-lane closures for traffic will be needed along the route during construction. Signage will be used onsite prior to and during traffic revisions to inform drivers. The public is encouraged to use alternate routes during construction in order to reduce congestion through the work zone.
Public Works and the construction contractor will be practicing COVID-19 prevention protocols during this project. Please maintain six-foot social distancing.
